Audit logs best practice

RecordPoint auditing uses SharePoint out of the box functionality. The SharePoint auditing that is configured on a Site Collection basis affects the amount of information that is submitted to RecordPoint on each item.

If the SharePoint audit information is being trimmed for example to a bare minimum the information that is passed across to the RecordPoint site collection will be this very minimal piece of information.

Records auditing is a vital piece of information to records management teams and is also widely used in other aspects of records management. The level of audit information kept and secured in RecordPoint is determined by each organisations record auditing standards.

See this article which describes how to configure auditing for a site collection.

Microsoft recommends audit log trimming is configured to prevent a large buildup of logs which will potentially degrade performance.
